Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Mechanical Project Designer in Denver, CO that has strong building engineering skills and industry experience to consistently produce project deliverables that meet project requirements and the project manager and client's expectations. Work consists of advanced mechanical design for the built environment, including but not limited to HVAC, piping, and plumbing.
Key Responsibilities
- With direction from a project manager and / or Professional Engineer Design, develop, and optimize mechanical and plumbing components and systems, ensuring adherence to engineering principles and industry standards.
- Apply mechanical engineering skills and knowledge to produce accurate and timely deliverables.
- Develop and prepare design documentation in written and computer-aided design formats to meet project and client requirements.
- Prepare required calculations to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members as part of a coordinated design team.
- Assist senior engineers in the design and development of mechanical and plumbing systems and components.
- Develop efficient and accurate solutions to design problems.
- Communicate with manufacturer reps and contractors to address challenges and develop practical designs.
- Provide contract documents that meet the required codes and quality assurance standards.
- Understand and work within project budgets and schedules to help the project manager meet project financial and schedule goals.
- Expand knowledge of technologies, trends, and markets in which we work as they apply to applicable project types and continually strengthen skills.
- Proactively pursue additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to project schedules.
Capabilities & Credentials
Mechanical and Plumbing design knowledge for the built environment, including but not limited to HVAC, piping, plumbing, and system layouts.Ability to prepare and review detailed mechanical drawings with supervision.Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, electrical, and other disciplines to deliver a coordinated, constructible design.Mechanical design experience in various sectors including Healthcare, Science and Technology, and Data Centers is strongly preferred.Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including IMC, IPC, IBC, IECC, and ASHRAE, as well as LEED and green building requirements.Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism and demeanor.Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Familiarity with various construction delivery processes, such as Design-Build, preferred.Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects preferred.Strong proficiency with Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.Strong working knowledge of heat load calculation software like IESVE.Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.Engineer-in-training certification (EIT) is strongly recommended.Minimum of 3 or more years of relevant experience.Typical Office Environment

Pay Range
Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – Min Salary $85,000.00 - Max Salary $123,300.00Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
