Job Description :

  • Under minimal supervision, provide programs for CNC punch presses, CNC laser, and CNC press brakes to manufacture parts as required to meet production plans and quality standards.
  • Concurrently working with engineering and planning / procurement departments to ensure efficient operations and on time completions.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Read and interpret prints and solid models.
  • Use Solid Works file packages to generate CNC code for punches and breaks from solid works models.
  • Reduce setup and punching / bending times through process improvements.
  • Manage, maintain, and deploy tooling when developing programs.
  • Generate setup sheets.
  • Provide feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
  • Write programs for new products ensuring compliance with all quality policies, solid models, prints, specifications, regulations and instructions.
  • Ensure input and output department files are completed in a timely manner.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce production costs while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Program, organize, log, update and maintain new and existing part files to the latest rev. level.

  • Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Experience with Solid Works is required.
  • Experience with Solid Works PDM is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of punch tooling.
  • Must have knowledge of brake tooling.
  • Experience in calculating K factors and bend allowances into flat patterns Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is required.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematic computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to apply to practical situations.

  • Shop math, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be familiar with quality standards (ISO9001).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and advise solutions regarding machining, work holding solutions and speeds and feeds.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow department and company policies.
  • Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with employees in other departments.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow written directions.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Must have at least 5-10 years of sheet metal experience.
  • Prefer at least 3 years operating a turret punch press.
  • Prefer at least 2-5 years’ experience in programming in Tumpf or related CNC software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Engineering degree a plus.
  • Job Type :
