Student Worker-Construction Assistant

Assist Director of Construction and Construction Supervisor in the construction of affordable single-family residential homes. Prepare job site, supervise volunteers, deliver materials to work site and assist with physical work of the building process ranging from framing to completing punch out items. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand & walk for the majority of the workday, walk & climb on uneven surfaces, climb ladders & stairs as well as be able to bend, lift, grasp, push & pull materials / tools to move them in and out of vehicles & work sites, and use power tools. Will need to have attentive, empathetic, collaborative & interpersonal skills as well as the ability to relate well with all constituents, staff, partnering families, volunteers, business, religious and political communities.

This is off-campus employment and reliable transportation is important. Driving is required. Must have 2-3 hour blocks of time to work. Availability to work all day on Saturdays is a plus.

• Work with local organization(s) or community partners
• Provide excellent customer service as a representative of the University
• May assist with planning, organizing, and implementing community services or programs
• May assist with various projects, activities or tasks related to community projects
• May contribute to developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external partners
• May serve as a source to provide information about resources and assistance related to community program(s) or service(s)
• May serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
• Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
• May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
