Network Systems Administrator

Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a Network Systems Administrator responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of network server systems supporting base communications and data infrastructure. This position provides direct support to mission-critical telecommunications networks, servers, switches, routers, and related infrastructure across multiple facilities or platforms. at various Naval bases in the San Diego Metro area.

Responsibilities :

Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and telecommunications server systems supporting both voice and data services.

Maintain and configure network switches, routers, firewalls, VoIP systems, and network management tools.

Support Base Communications Office (BCO) operations, ensuring compliance with DoD, DISA, and Navy network security standards.

Perform network performance monitoring, fault isolation, and root cause analysis for service disruptions.

Implement configuration changes, patches, and upgrades in accordance with approved change management processes.

Maintain accurate network diagrams, port assignments, and IP address management documentation.

Coordinate with internal engineering, cybersecurity, and field maintenance teams for system troubleshooting and restoration.

Provide Tier II / III support to end users and field technicians during outages or maintenance events.

Conduct routine backups, maintain logs, and ensure system compliance with IA and cybersecurity directives.

Support installation and maintenance of software, hardware, and infrastructure equipment as required by operational needs.

Qualifications

Required :

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience administering network server systems in a telecommunications environment.

Proven knowledge of network protocols (TCP / IP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, BGP) and telecommunications technologies.

Administrator-level knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems

Experience with Cisco or equivalent enterprise network equipment.

Familiarity with fiber optic and copper cabling systems (ISP / OSP).

CompTIA Network+ or CCNA certification (Security+ recommended).

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Desired :

Prior experience supporting DoD Base Communications Offices (BCO) or shipboard telecommunications systems.

Working knowledge of Navy C4I systems, NMCI / NGEN environments, or similar defense communication networks.

Understanding of network security best practices and DISA STIG compliance.

Prior experience supporting Microsoft SQL Database in a virtualized environment

Compensation :

• The hourly rate for this position is between $38-44 / hour. Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
