American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join a PCU / IMC Float Pool in Colorado with night shifts, floating across multiple specialty units, and Epic EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a PCU / IMC Float Pool serving acute care settings within a 60-mile radius in Colorado Springs, covering general, cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED obs units
  • Assignment includes adult to geriatric patient population with conditions such as cardiac, neuro, post-surgical, psych / detox, renal, urology, and oncology
  • Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 3-4 depending on acuity
  • Required to float between multiple units and facilities within Zone 1 as assigned
  • Night shifts with 12-hour scheduling, including 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • Uses Epic EMR; previous Epic experience is preferred
  • RNs will float to various specialties as needed to support staffing across the region
  • Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor and a 12-hour onboarding period
  • Schedule flexibility is expected, and all time off requests must be submitted before assignment begins
  • Scrub color is any color
  • Travelers cannot have a home base facility and are expected to secure housing enabling mobility across assigned zone
  • Candidates must live more than 60 miles from the Colorado Springs city center to be eligible for travel assignment
  • Holiday rotation may apply
  • May be occasionally assigned to take lower acuity ICU or med-surg patients as needed
  • Returning employees must not have worked for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year except through outside agencies

    • Requirements

  • Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU / IMC experience required
  • Current certifications : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC
  • Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin
  • Experience with cardiac, neuro, and orthopedic populations preferred
  • Ability to operate RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
  • Driver's license required for radius verification
  • Must provide 2 recent references (one supervisor from past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from past 3 years) including employment dates and rehire eligibility
