Entry Level Civil CAD Drafter

This position requires an advanced knowledge and understanding of CAD design in civil engineering. This position will receive work instruction from the Project Manager(s) for either Civil, Structural, or Platting. They will produce drawings in AutoCAD and write reports to support the projects they are assigned.

Job Functions

• Work with Civil Project Manager on assigned tasks.
• Accurately create and revise CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instruction, and site visits.
• Seamlessly integrate and work with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers to produce and alter drawings as assigned.
• Develop preliminary utility systems for client and internal review.
• Print various formats of drawing sets.
• Research and investigate various jurisdictional requirements and utility maps to further aid in the drafting and permitting process.
• Assist in training new drafters in Pioneer’s standards.

Other Job Functions

Structural (When Assigned)

• Communicate with Structural Team including Project Coordinator, Consultants, and Clients, on project status, schedules, and project requirements.
• Accurately create and revise CAD drawings from mark-ups and verbal instructions.
• Prepare setups and layouts from architectural drawings based on Pioneer drawing standards as directed by the Structural Engineer.
• Perform quality control checks on drawings provided by the Structural Engineer.
• Perform site inspections and prepare the corresponding inspection report.
• Other duties with respect to the Structural Department as assigned.

Qualifications - Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of civil engineering with respect to site development, structural design, platting, or other related fields.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Moderate knowledge of Civil 3D
• Familiar with reading and understanding charts, maps, and reference drawings for “as-builts.”
• Excellent knowledge of drawing development, arrangement, scale, orientation, dimensioning, cross-sections and details, and other drafting practices applicable to the preparation of drawings.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
• Valid Driver License and a means to travel for work.

Qualifications - Education and Experience

• Minimum Associates Degree in CAD Design or related field OR equivalent work history.
• 2 year of experience in civil design.
