Location : Remote

Compensation : $150,000 - $160,000 / year

Description

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION :

Multiplier's mission is to accelerate impact for initiatives focused on protecting and fostering a healthy, sustainable, resilient, and equitable world. Growing threats to our planet and its people require holistic solutions, both locally and globally. The projects in our portfolio span a broad array of cross-sector strategies in land and ocean conservation, public health, education and leadership, economic development, clean energy, climate resilience, sustainable food systems, energy efficiency, social and environmental equity, and more.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Program Finance Officer (PFO) plays a vital role in financial management and stewardship of a diverse portfolio of Multiplier projects. This position is responsible for complex budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Serving as a strategic partner to project teams, the PFO provides accurate financial data and guidance to support informed decision-making. Additionally, the PFO contributes to organizational leadership by helping shape policies and procedures that accelerate mission outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Financial Advisement & Capacity Building

  • Serve as a trusted partner in shaping financial strategy and informed decision-making on resource allocation.
  • Provide tailored guidance in alignment with project lifecycle, priorities, and financial health.
  • Strengthen project team financial literacy and capabilities in budgeting, cash flow planning, and financial reporting.

2. Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Prepare, analyze, and present project monthly financial reports for a portfolio of projects.
  • Meet regularly with project leadership to review financial performance.
  • Track spending patterns and budget-to-actual variances.
  • Build financial models, forecasts, and multi-year financial growth plans.
  • Identify cash flow concerns and craft resolution strategies.
  • 3. Revenue Strategy & Stewardship

  • Review budgets for grant proposals and advise on pricing for fee-for-service contracts.
  • Steward a complex set of restricted awards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant-related financial reports.
  • Manage award budget revisions and term extensions.
  • 4. Shared Leadership & Collaboration

  • Contribute to a culture of mutual service and cross-team collaboration.
  • Partner closely with finance, accounting, contracts, grants, and project teams.
  • Support systems upgrades and technology innovation.
  • Seek opportunities for automation and efficiency.
  • Lead financial aspects of project onboarding / offboarding.
  • Assist new projects and new project directors in navigating internal systems and structures.
  • Other duties that are reasonable and consistent with this position.

    The Ideal Candidate

Your highly collaborative approach builds strong relationships with deep trust. You know that increasing changemakers' financial literacy accelerates impact and your consultative style helps project leaders make informed financial decisions with confidence. You are comfortable with ambiguity and skillfully help others navigate a volatile, uncertain, and complex world. You are highly organized with strong attention to detail and able to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities. You care deeply about people and planet. Your combination of technical expertise in nonprofit finance and ability to facilitate critical conversations around sensitive financial matters sets you apart.

    Specific Experience Requested :

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience with data entry and reporting in nonprofit fund accounting systems.
  • Proven track record managing multiple high-priority tasks while delivering high-quality results.
  • Flexible, solutions-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
