Director of Marketing and Communications

Canyon seeks a full-time Director of Communications and Marketing to oversee all aspects of communications, marketing, and the public-facing image of the venue. The position will eventually oversee a small team contributing to this work.

Canyon is an arts venue opening in 2026 on the Lower East Side of NYC, dedicated to the exhibition of time-based media art.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director, the Director of Communications and Marketing will be responsible for Canyon's public voice. Overseeing a small team of up to 4, this role will be responsible for leading communications, marketing, social media, publications, and ticket sales. As the first staff member in this role, the Director of Communications and Marketing will be integral in developing Canyon's image.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for Canyon
• Oversee all press and public relations activities, including exhibition announcements, performing arts and event promotion
• Lead Canyon's digital marketing strategy, including the website and social media channels, managing any employee(s) working in this domain
• Design and implement strategies for audience growth at Canyon through marketing and collaboration with other departments
• Oversee ticket sales strategy across all sales channels, tracking audience engagement metrics and develop strategies to increase engagement over time
• Create standards for Canyon's branding, overseeing any graphic designer(s)

Salary and Benefits :

The expected salary range is $135,000 - 170,000.

This is a full-time position. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; life, AD&D, long-term disability, and short-term disability insurance; a Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account; a 401(k) retirement account with a matching contribution; and tuition reimbursement.
