Position Overview
The Automation Controls Engineer III is a senior technical role responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and improving control and data acquisition systems for manufacturing, packaging, and support equipment. This includes SCADA systems, PLCs, and HMI devices. The position involves advanced troubleshooting, mentoring junior engineers, and leading automation projects to enhance efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical resource for automation systems, including SCADA, PLC, and HMI devices.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and provide technical guidance to resolve automation issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to execute projects effectively.
- Oversee and evaluate work performed by external partners, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and GMP standards.
- Investigate and resolve quality deviations related to automated equipment, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automated systems, including SOPs, PMs, and technical manuals.
- Provide programming and integration support for building monitoring systems and HMI displays.
- Identify and implement cost-effective automation upgrades aligned with business objectives.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians to foster skill development.
- Support validation activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously assess and recommend emerging automation technologies to improve system performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in automation integration.Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI systems (e.g., Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens).Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant automation software.Preferred Skills
Experience with building management systems and cleanroom facilities.Knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, FDA, EU, etc.).Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues in a production environment.
