The Arctic and Interior Alaska Campaign Director will develop and implement strategic campaigns to protect and enhance Alaskas national parks while building a diverse effective and enduring network of national park advocates in Alaska. The Campaign Director will oversee campaign and programmatic activities across the 20 million acres of national parklands in Arctic and Interior Alaska to protect park resources from mining and other development impacts advocate for co-stewardship and co-management of parklands and wildlife in coordination with Alaska Native Tribes strengthen relationships with Alaska Native leaders to promote equitable environmental outcomes and engage in national policy efforts to provide adequate funding and resources to the national park system. Partners in these campaigns may include rural residents remote gateway communities and local governments tourism businesses and representatives wildlife advocates Alaska Native tribes and tribal members and current and former military personnel. The Campaign Director will work closely with the other members of thesmall Alaska team and cheerful cooperation and accountability to team members is a must.

Minimum Work Schedule : 32-hour work week. Flexible hours scheduled between 8 : 30am 5 : 30pm Monday through Thursday. Occasional weekend work is required for certain activities.
Travel : Regional travel required for meetings events and outreach (for instance visits to parks to meet staff and local stakeholders and visits to Juneau to educate lawmakers and agency personnel). National travel periodically required for national legislative lobbying and NPCA meetings and events in the DC area.
Minimum Scope of Position : The Campaign Director will work with the Alaska team to build and implement strategic and successful campaigns to protect and fund national parks. The Campaign Director will be expected to take the lead on some campaigns in particular NPCAs efforts to protect Gates of the Arctic National Preserve and other Northwest Alaska national parklands from a mining road. The Campaign Director may co-lead NPCA efforts to convince Congress to appropriately fund parks and will also make significant contributions to NPCA campaigns where other colleagues are the lead. Campaigns will generally be designed to build a diverse and powerful set of advocates for national parks and the Campaign Director will be expected to play a significant role in the work to build advocates. The Campaign Director will work with Alaska staff and may take the lead in some cases on office comments events publications and other needs that arise.
