We are a telecommunications construction company seeking to hire a Telecom Lineman / Fiber Optic Technician to support outside plant (OSP) construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic and coaxial cable systems. This position involves aerial and underground utility construction and is ideal for candidates with telecom, utility, or general construction experience.
Key Responsibilities (Telecom / OSP Construction)
- Construct, inspect, maintain, and restore overhead and underground telecommunications facilities
- Install aerial and underground fiber optic and coax cable
- Assist with fiber splicing and coax splicing
- Dig holes for poles and anchors; set utility poles
- Pull fiber, coax, and guy wires to proper tension
- Install strand and lash fiber and coax
- Install and maintain down guys, overhead guys, risers, slack loops, and snowshoes
- Perform outside plant (OSP) construction and restoration
- Operate telecom-specific equipment, heavy machinery, and power tools under supervision
- Load, unload, raise, and lower cable reels, hardware, and construction materials
- Perform manual labor including excavation and material handling
- Perform tree trimming and job site cleanup
- Follow OSHA safety standards and customer safety requirements at all times
Qualifications
18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experienceAuthorized to work in the United StatesValid state driver’s license (non-provisional) with acceptable driving recordMust pass a criminal background check (No felonies, parole or probation last 10 years, no misdemeanors of any type for last 5 years).Must pass a 5-panel drug screening (PCP, THC, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines)Experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, utility construction, lineman work, or general construction preferredKnowledge of OSP construction, underground utilities, aerial line work, or telecom infrastructure a plusStrong commitment to workplace safety and teamworkPhysical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to lift and carry 55+ poundsFrequent bending, stooping, standing, walking, climbing, and working with arms above shoulder levelAbility to work weekends, nights, on-call shifts, and in remote locationsComfortable operating vehicles, heavy equipment, hand tools, and power toolsOutdoor work in varying weather conditionsSchedule
