SENIOR BACKEND ENGINEER

$175,000–$250,000 + Equity | Onsite in Chicago

They’re backed by top-tier investors and are expanding their engineering team with a highly skilled Back End & Full Stack Software Engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and shipping impactful products.

What You’ll Do

Build and scale real-time communication and AI-driven systems across cloud and Android hardware.

Design, implement, and maintain backend microservices and real-time APIs (WebSocket, WebRTC, gRPC).

Contribute to enterprise web applications , ensuring responsive UI and seamless user experience.

Work with PostgreSQL , caching systems (Redis), and streaming / event platforms (Kafka, NATS, SQS).

Optimize performance, reliability, and security across backend infrastructure.

Collaborate cross-functionally with ML, mobile, and hardware teams to deliver full-stack solutions.

Play a key role in a fast-moving, mission-driven engineering team .

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience in Go, Rust, Node.js (TypeScript), or Python building production backends.

Experience shipping real-time streaming systems (WebRTC, gRPC, WebSocket).

Solid understanding of API design, versioning, and observability best practices .

Strong experience with PostgreSQL schema design, migrations, and query optimization.

Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC , and general cloud security.

Familiarity with Docker , Kubernetes , and CI / CD pipelines.

Bonus : exposure to AI / ML integration , voice technologies , or hardware-software interaction .
