Controls Engineer - Manufacturing (Detroit Metro)

Full-Time | On-Site | Confidential Client

Are you a hands-on Controls Engineer looking to make a measurable impact in a fast?paced manufacturing environment? I'm partnering with a long?standing, growth?oriented manufacturer in the Detroit metro area that is investing heavily in automation and process optimization. They are seeking a sharp, driven engineering professional who can own PLC systems, troubleshoot efficiently, and support continuous improvement across the plant.

About the Role

In this role, you'll serve as the go-to controls resource-supporting production, upgrading automation systems, and ensuring that high?volume operations run safely, reliably, and efficiently. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to support new equipment integration, upgrades, and ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimize PLC programs (ladder logic, structured text, function block) for manufacturing equipment.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, debugging, and start-up activities.
• Analyze downtime events, troubleshoot electrical / controls issues, and drive root?cause corrective actions.
• Integrate PLCs with auxiliary systems including HMIs, drives, sensors, safety circuits, and plant networks.
• Maintain and update documentation : electrical schematics, I / O lists, technical manuals, and change logs.
• Collaborate cross?functionally with production, quality, and maintenance teams to support efficiency and reliability initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and safety standards within an industrial environment.
