We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our team. This is a full-time position located in Norman, OK and will typically work Monday - Friday.
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, monthly closing / activity reports, and general accounting duties as needed. This position works in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures, showing great attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Accounting Analyst works closely with the Accounting team, external vendors, and cooperative personnel.
Responsibilities include :
- Processes accounts payable process for OEC and OEC Fiber, LLC.
Process payments through checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
Researches discrepancies and corrects as appropriate.Ensures payments are processed and paid in a timely manner.Maintains accurate and organized data.Communicates daily with vendors.Prioritize tasks in order to manage time effectively.Assists with the month-end close process for OEC and OEC Fiber, LLC.Process annual 1099 tax forms.Maintains records on OEC fleet.Maintains current knowledge of Cooperative policies and procedures, federal and state policies, and current GAAP.Prepares weekly reports and other reports as required.Assists with other data requests and reconciliations as needed and provides backup support for others in the Accounting department.Maintains an awareness of Cooperative policies, plans, procedures, and equipment relating to the Accounting department.Researches, recommends, and implements changes and upgrades to improve the department.Attends training, conferences, and trade shows to obtain industry knowledge and career development in areas related to job functions.Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications :
Bachelor's degree OR Associate's degree and 1 year experience OR minimum of 3 years' experienceEducation should be in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
Experience should be of a progressively increasing responsibility in accounts payable, accounting, or related fieldWork experience may be substituted for the education requirement as well as additional education may be substituted for work experience.Strong working knowledge and understanding of the development and implementation of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically ExcelBasic computer knowledgeSkill in : using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses; understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making; effectively managing one's timeAbility to : apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense; read, listen, communicate, and understand information and ideas presented verbally and in writingQualities of : being honest and ethical; analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues; being careful about detail and thorough in completing tasks; being open to change and variety; willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges; guiding oneself with minimal supervision and depending on oneself to get things done
