United Radio is Central New York’s premier upfitter of emergency, construction and commercial vehicles.

As an Upfit Technician, you will be installing / removing various types of emergency equipment; (lights, land mobile radios, sirens, prisoner partitions, weapon mounts, consoles, controllers, radar equipment, camera / DVR systems, push bumpers, etc.) .

Job Requirements : Working knowledge of automobile electronics (12 Volt systems) and proficiency using basic hand and power tools.

• Disassembling & reassembling vehicle’s exterior body parts & interior panels
• Properly mounting & securing components to vehicles
• Routing wires and cabling into vehicles
• Splicing wires and / or soldering connections to equipment & components
• Terminating connections on radios, LED lights, sirens, radar components, and electrical components
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing and / or replacing electrical components
• Documenting all work completed on work orders accurately
• Maintaining a clean, organized and safe working area
• controllers, light bar programming, radar systems, in-car camera systems, mobile radio installations, troubleshooting ability, etc

Able to : Communicate & work with other employees to execute efficient and quality installations that meet company standards. Provide direct customer service as needed, perform diagnostics / troubleshoot and make repairs to equipment.

Basic automotive (12- Volt ) electrical knowledge along with general automotive experience is preferred but not required as well as working or advanced knowledge of current emergency vehicle lighting systems, sirens.

Job Type : Full-time

Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug test and have a clean driver’s record.

Our shop is fully climate controlled during the entire year. We hold events like monthly employee breakfasts, lunches and other activities to make the workdays fun.

Pay : $21.00 -$35.00 per hour Pay range dependent on experience.

Expected hours : 40 per week, Monday through Friday 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm
