Emergency and Trauma Physician Assistant

Job Description :

This position transports patients to and from the O.R., handles routine tasks related to patient care, organizes equipment, and provides general cleaning of surgical suites.

$18.81 - $23.68 / hour (depending on experience)

Shift Details :

32 hours / week. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (6 : 45 a.m. - 3 : 15 p.m.) with minimal holiday call

Operating Room - Lutheran Medical Center (Wheat Ridge, Colorado)

Scope

• Assists with transporting patients to the OR holding area, assisting with lifting, positioning, and / or transferring patients as indicated.
• Consults with the Anesthesiologist and RN as appropriate to determine the equipment, set- up and supply requirements prior to the start of a procedure.
• Processes post-surgery case-carts when assigned including but not limited to discarding sharps, emptying suction canisters, disseminating unused supplies and sending carts to Central Processing.
• Set up Fluid Warmer, Invasive Lines and sterile supplies for Anesthesia procedures as requested and / or as appropriate for the type of anesthetic procedure to be performed.
• Change anesthesia filter, gas cylinders and canisters and check and restock anesthesia machines between cases and at the completion of the scheduled cases.
• Assist in opening sterile supplies under the supervision of a RN.
• Assist with timely turnover of rooms to include cleaning room, removing trash and linen.
• Transporting Blood products and specimens to and from blood bank to OR and lab / pathology.
• Retrieves medication under direction of Licensed Independent Personnel.
• Maintains traffic patterns and adheres to sanitation policies and procedures for Surgical and Anesthesia instruments and equipment.
• Reviews surgery schedule daily to anticipate anesthesia needs for equipment in OR and LD.
• Assists under direction of MDA of management of airway maintenance.
• Collaborates with the RN and assists with documenting the use of equipment and supply consumption for accurate charging and inventory management.
• Connects OR electrical equipment prior to surgical procedures and disconnects at completion of cases.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
• May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

Prior experience or education in a health related field or public service preferred
