The Shipping Clerk coordinates shipping priorities, verifies outgoing materials, and ensures accuracy, safety, and compliance in all logistics processes. This position also operates forklifts, prepares documentation, and supports continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

LOCATION: Fully Onsite - 4251 Turin Dr, Bessemer, AL 35020

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee shipping priorities and task assignments
• Lead accurate labeling, documentation, and shipment verification
• Serve as point of contact for resolving shipping discrepancies and customer issues
• Train and support Shipping Clerk I and II employees
• Operate forklifts and ensure team compliance with shipping and safety procedures
• Maintain excellent communication with logistics partners and internal teams
• Contribute to process improvements and workflow efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

• High school diploma or GED required
• 3+ years of shipping/receiving or logistics experience
• Forklift certification required
• Strong knowledge of shipping systems and documentation standards
• Proven leadership and team coordination experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for long periods
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

WORK SCHEDULE

• Monday - Thursday: 6am - 4:30pm
• Friday: 6am - 2:30pm
• Saturday (as needed): 6am - 11:30am

Candidates must be able to work up to 6 days per week with Saturdays scheduled on an as-needed basis

This position is carried out in a fabrication shop environment and as such has the following physical work requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed throughout the work shift.
• Position requires ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Position may require bending, kneeling, and stooping.
• Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
• May encounter occasional stressful situations.
• Work may include responding to critical customer driven situations which may result in working some weekends, holidays, and after normal business hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

RSMC offers a competitive pay package that includes an hourly wage and production bonus. The hourly rate is paid weekly. The production bonus is also paid weekly and is based on Production, Quality, and On-Time Delivery targets being met.
