General Purpose

The Retail Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for associates and customers alike. Your responsibilities will include greeting customers with a smile while maintaining a visible presence at store entrances and exits, actively preventing theft and fraud while faithfully supporting Ross's values. You will monitor the sales floor to identify potential theft indicators and work closely with store leadership to implement effective loss prevention strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Ensuring Safety and Security : Prioritize safety in all actions, maintaining a strong presence to deter theft and create a secure shopping environment.
  • Customer Engagement : Provide outstanding customer service by warmly greeting shoppers, addressing inquiries, and treating everyone with courtesy and respect.
  • Brand Representation : Always embody the company’s brand and adhere to the professional dress code.
  • Theft and Fraud Mitigation : Recognize suspicious behaviors, document theft indicators, and communicate effectively with store leadership.
  • Reducing Operational Loss : Train staff on loss prevention protocols and ensure accurate adherence to checkout procedures.

    • Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience in retail preferred.
  • Experience in loss prevention or security training preferred.
  • An active security guard license is preferred.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in building rapport with colleagues and providing excellent customer service.
  • Adept at conflict resolution.
  • Must comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to security roles, including background checks and screenings.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Consistent regular attendance.
  • Ability to spend 100% of working hours on your feet, moving throughout the store.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects over 25 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching may be necessary.
