- Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques
- Perform animal restraint and handling for examinations, treatments, and laboratory procedures with confidence and care
- Conduct laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic assays to support accurate diagnoses
- Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, laboratory results, and patient histories in compliance with veterinary standards
- Support pet grooming, pet care routines, and animal husbandry to promote overall health and comfort
- Administer medications via various routes including injections, oral medications, or catheterizations with precision and compassion
- Handle X-ray procedures safely, ensuring proper positioning and image quality for accurate diagnostics
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing pet dental cleanings or treatments as directed
- Manage kennel duties such as cleaning enclosures, feeding animals, and monitoring their behavior to ensure a safe environment for all pets
- Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs, providing first aid, or assisting in emergency situations involving animals
- Requirements
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong foundation in animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology
- Demonstrated kennel experience along with dog handling skills; familiarity with pet grooming is a plus
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and pet care best practices to ensure safety during procedures
- Experience with laboratory testing methods and X-ray equipment operation preferred
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and apply aseptic techniques accurately in clinical settings
- Familiarity with equine (horse) experience is advantageous but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with team members and educating pet owners about animal health needs
- Valid certification as a veterinary technician or equivalent credential recognized by relevant authorities
