SUMMARY

skilled and experienced Machinist I to operate and maintain various types of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The Machinist I will use a variety of tools and equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and computer-controlled machinery, to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Practices ESL’s core values on a daily basis.
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Use precision measuring instruments to inspect and verify dimensions of machined parts and assemblies
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining operations to be performed
• Verify machine settings and program control data to ensure accuracy of machining operations
• Select appropriate cutting tools, grinding wheels, or fixtures for the job at hand
• Monitor machines during operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with machinery and equipment, and perform routine maintenance and repairs as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
• Perform other related duties as assigned
