Pointer Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient database solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of our database systems. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting data-driven decision-making across our mission space.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of database architecture, a passion for optimization, and a commitment to delivering robust data solutions. This person is diligent, works well with others, inspired to learn, driven by mission and practices effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable database systems for high-performance applications.
• Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and schema design.
• Develop and manage ETL pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and integration.
• Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and business teams to support data needs.
• Ensure database security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Perform regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and provide on-call support as needed.
• Research and implement emerging database technologies to enhance efficiency and scalability.
