As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants. With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

How you will make an impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. Join our IT team as a 2026 summer intern, where you'll gain hands-on experience supporting technology operations and end-user services across a global organization. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, AI, Cybersecurity, or related fields who are interested in learning how IT drives business continuity and efficiency in a corporate environment.

Collaborate on cutting-edge AI and automation initiatives that drive innovation across global systems, including real-world applications in predictive analytics, intelligent workflows, and smart infrastructure.

Help design and optimize data architectures to support scalable data ingestion, transformation, and machine learning pipelinesleveraging the latest cloud-native tools and open-source frameworks.

Support IT projects and upgrades, including testing new applications, rolling out updates, and documenting processes.

Participate in cybersecurity related initiatives by monitoring alerts, applying security patches, and supporting compliance with IT policies.

Collaborate with IT team members and business users to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure smooth day-to-day technology operations.

This internship provides the opportunity to gain real-world IT experience, strengthen processes and troubleshooting skills, and learn how technology supports business operations in a professional setting. What we are looking for (Required / Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has :

Required Experience & Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft O365 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Familiar with basic AI concepts and familiarity with basic AI tools

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ideal Experience & Skills

Familiarity with computer operating systems and connectivity

Exposure to user experience, Open Source and applications' fundamentals (user interface, integrations, data structure, etc.)

Interest in or exposure to cybersecurity practices (password policies, MFA, phishing awareness)

Experience in customer service, office administration, or student leadership roles

Education & Certifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, AI, Cyber Security, Information Systems, or related field

Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher.

High school diploma or GED required.

Travel & Working Environment

Hybrid schedule

The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours.

Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Keyboarding / typing.

Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and / or a paper copy.

Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

Our intern and co-op positions are paid, and we offer housing stipends for students who are not local to the Kansas City area.
