In this high-profile executive leadership role, the Director of Operations will lead the Investigations Division, managing the vital day-to-day investigative functions critical to our continued success while providing strategic oversight for business development, marketing, and operational excellence. As a key executive stakeholder, this role will own and spearhead criminal, civil, and proprietary investigations, covert surveillance, conduct background checks, and serve as the primary investigative and operational touchstone. This role requires an engaging and dynamic leadership style, deep professional experience, and a profound understanding of the various complex and ever-emerging challenges we encounter.

The Director of Operations is an organizational change agent focused on implementing the best investigative practices, heightening our unmatched performance, and strengthening our commitment to the customers we serve.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties1. Operational & Investigative Management

Lead a team of PIs, managing all day-to-day investigative functions.

  • Respond to all investigative requests / service inquiries, complete consultations, and client strategy meetings.
  • Complete case intakes / initial investigation review for cases.
  • Conduct investigations and assign 1099 investigators as needed.
  • Locate and retain experts on cases, as needed.
  • Record all findings, obtain written and recorded evidence, prepare thorough investigative reports, and testify at legal proceedings and hearings.
  • Complete client updates, bi-weekly at a minimum on all cases.
  • Complete monthly and / or final reports for all cases.

2. Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Manage division budgets and expenses, ensuring growth and profit margins are met.
  • Manage case budgeting and expenses to track case profitability in each case.
  • Interview, Hire, Train, and Manage 1099 investigators, as needed.
  • Manage and Update 1099 licensing requirements, including insurance where required.
  • Manage 1099 case assignments, report review, and invoice tracking.
  • Manage licensing and oversee delegated annual business reporting requirements.
  • Oversee divisional employees(s) and ensure assigned duties are completed, work evaluated, and that divisional staff are properly trained and equipped for tasks.
  • Conduct research for latest investigative tools, software, and licensing while conducting annual cost-profit comparisons.
  • Review all local, state, and federal law changes each year, ensuring the company is compliant across the board.
  • 3. Marketing, Networking & Public Relations

  • Oversight of all divisional marketing campaigns and networking outreach projects.
  • Represent Lauth Investigations International at various professional conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
  • Engage in public speaking opportunities and media relations to enhance the company's profile and subject matter expertise.
  • Maintain division database (CRM, chatbots / AI tools, and outreach applications) as it relates to service inquiries, cold-call marketing campaigns, and warm leads.

  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a U.S.-accredited college or university. MBA is a plus.
  • Former law enforcement experience as a commander or more than five (5) years of experience is a plus.
  • Previous leadership experience necessary, either within a small or large company in corporate division. Prior experience overseeing a corporate division or owning a business is a significant plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and managing budgets and a proven ability to analyze financial data, including gross margins, internal labor KPIs, and operating margins.
  • Extensive investigative experience and a strong private investigations background with demonstrable working knowledge of related topics.
  • Strong knowledge of all relevant guidelines and regulations.
  • Must possess fine-tuned maturity and finesse in navigating sensitive situations.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable; able to work under heightened emotional situations and unpleasant conditions.
  • On-call 24 hour; Able to travel extensively in support of assignments, conferences, and networking as required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing and business development is a plus.
  • Willing to relocate to the Indianapolis area.
