Energy Technician II
Position Summary : The Energy Technician II is in the Weatherization department of Springfield Partners for Community Action. This position is responsible for performing residential weatherization audits for low-income households and educating customers on energy efficiency. Technicians will work directly with clients and contractors ultimately performing quality control inspections on completed jobs.
Responsibilities :
- Perform residential energy audits in compliance with funding contracts and regulation requirements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates, work scopes, measures, and installation quantities.
- Enter jobs into the web-based E-Assist Program.
- Inspect and monitor in-progress projects, and perform final inspections to ensure quality control standards.
- Perform minor energy conservation installations (bulbs, etc.).
- Maintain accurate and organized job folders including formal write-up of home energy audit findings.
- Educate consumers and clients regarding energy conservation measures.
- Accept other duties as assigned by the Weatherization Director.
- Able to test and successfully pass state-level certification within 6 months of hire to maintain positions.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma required, Associates Degree preferred.A minimum of one (1) year of construction / trade, knowledge of Energy Conservation (insulation techniques, venting schemes, etc). Non-profit experience preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Must have worked with low-income families, in a diverse community.Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)Possession of a valid drivers license and current auto insurance is required, along with reliable transportation to drive to and from a clients home with the necessary equipment to perform an audit.Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.Able to successfully pass the test for State-level Auditor certification within 6 months of hire required to maintain position.LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of department heads and managers, customers, and members of the general public.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general reference periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.Ability to write reports and correspondence.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
