Summary

Join our team as a Lead Electrician in the Department of the Navy, where you will work across various naval shipyards including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.

As a Lead Electrician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical systems on nuclear ships. Your expertise will be crucial in determining the placement of electrical distribution panels and equipment, and in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems in a challenging shipyard environment.

Duties

Your responsibilities will include :

• Determining placement of electrical distribution panels and other equipment.
• Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing electrical equipment, systems, generators, switchboards, or control equipment in a shipyard environment.
• Employing theoretical practices to repair faulty electrical equipment or systems on nuclear ships.
• Operating power tools (e.g., pipe benders, cutters, power drills) to cut, bend, fit, and thread components of electrical equipment and systems.
• Using hand tools and test equipment to check alignment, output, and resistance to ground along with other electrical characteristics.
• Diagnosing faulty electrical equipment or systems to determine whether rework or replacement of components is required, particularly for nuclear ship alterations and repairs.
