The Ambulatory Oncology Nurse will join a comprehensive oncology program nested within an integrated, physician-aligned health system featuring multiple outpatient infusion centers. The program is recognized for quality, safety, and patient experience in cancer care, with embedded pharmacy, navigation, social work, and survivorship resources. Modern clinics and evidence-based protocols support seamless coordination and excellent outcomes.
The Ambulatory Oncology Nurse reports to the Clinic Manager and partners closely with medical oncologists, advanced practice providers, and oncology pharmacists. The position provides clinical direction to LPNs, medical assistants, and techs, and may precept new team members. Cross-functional collaboration with scheduling, financial counseling, and patient navigation teams ensures smooth daily operations.
Across the infusion network, daily patient volumes range roughly 20-25 in smaller sites, 25-60 in midsize sites, and 75-90+ in the busiest locations. As an Ambulatory Oncology Nurse, core clinical work includes comprehensive assessments, patient and family education, chemotherapy / biotherapy administration per current standards, symptom management, and coordination of care across visits. The role supports safe practice through double-checks, policy adherence, and continuous skills development, while contributing to flow, scheduling input, and accurate documentation. Robust onboarding and precepted training are available to help an Ambulatory Oncology Nurse with inpatient oncology experience transition confidently into ambulatory care.
