Registered Nurse - Neuro-Oncology

Job Summary

The Division of Neuro-Oncology here at UCSF cares for patients with central nervous system tumors (CNS brain tumors) from diagnosis, through all stages of their illness, including hospice and death. Approximately 2000 patients per year are seen in the outpatient clinic. Patients are treated with standard of care therapies as well as research protocols. This position will work with the staff of Neuro-Oncology : neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurses (CNII / CNIII), and clinical research associates in caring for this patient population under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager RN.

The primary responsibility of the Neuro-Oncology CN II is to provide comprehensive care for all brain tumor patients being followed by the Division of Neuro-Oncology here at UCSF. He / she will work closely with the Nurse Practitioners, CNII, CNIII, physicians, both neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists, who see and care for patients with CNS tumors in clinic. He / she will assist in coordinating and overseeing the care of this patient population as they prepare for a variety of treatments, as well as those who enroll in clinical trials. In addition to providing direct and indirect patient care, the Neuro-Oncology CNII will assist in protocol development, working with the study PI, lead Research Nurse / Project Manager, Research Manager, and Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. He / she will also serve as a resource for UCSF and the community, providing education on Neuro-Oncology protocols, as well as care of the patient with a brain tumor and related topics.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

• This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
• Minimum of two years' experience as an RN in Neuroscience, Oncology, or Research Management
• Minimum of two years' experience in outpatient clinic or UCSF in-patient hospital setting, and currently working in either of those settings
• Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge in neurosurgical nursing, oncology nursing, and / or clinical trials
