Position Description :

CLP Engineering (CLPE) is growing our engineering team in Corona, and seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer IV- Substation Design with a PE license and 8+ years of engineering / utility Industry experience to join us. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US citizen.

Key | Responsibilities :

• Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial / industrial power distribution systems.
• Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
• Develop / review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings / recommendations.
• Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
• Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analysis / studies.
• Develop bill of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects. Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
• Perform field take-offs / evaluations for estimate preparation.
• Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems.
• Update and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
• Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design, and present the design to CLPE Management and the customer.
• Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
• Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement / renewable and new installations.
• Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios and assist crew to implement corrective actions.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution system.
• Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimate.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.

Project Management Duties :

• Preparation of project construction schedules
• Submission of request for information to clients.
• Act as primary point of contact for projects and facilitating design / review process.
• Coordinate meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables, and addressing outstanding open items as requested by clients.

Skills | Knowledge | Experience :

• BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from accredited university with emphasis in power systems required.
• PE License required.
• Minimum of eight (8+) years of work experience in the electric utility industry.
• Expert knowledge with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution system required.
• Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination required.
• Experienced in blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time / cost / labor estimates for projects and services required.
• Ability to prepare and maintain construction project schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Experience with ETAP or similar software.
• Must be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Travel :

• 20-30% travel

Work Authorization | Security Clearance :

• You must be a U.S. citizen.
• You will be required to obtain Military Base Security Access Clearance.
• Valid driver's license required.

Compensation | Benefits : :

• We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
• Salary range : $130,000-$170,000 based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
• We reserve the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range based on factors unrelated to sex.
