Kitchen Aide

Position Title : Kitchen Aide

Corps / Department : Salvation Army, Older Alaskans Program

Reports To : Food Service Manager

FLSA Status : Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Scope of Position : Under the supervision of the Food Service Manager, assist in the preparation and serving planned meals for McKinnell House, Cares for Kids and the OAP nutrition services to ensure palatable, safe, and attractive meals for all consumers. Assist in the maintenance of the kitchen, equipment, and dining area in a clean, sanitary, and presentable manner to assure compliance with standard food safety and sanitation procedures and all applicable food service codes. Assist in the storage and inventory control of food and supplies.

Minimum Qualifications :

• GED or High School diploma and at least 1 year experience working in a food service setting.
• Ability to follow directions and work with others.
• Current food handler's card or the willingness and ability to obtain a food handler's card within 30 days of placement.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet demands of department.
• Reliable means of getting to your place of work.
• Ability to keep accurate records and reports and to communicate effectively in oral and written man.

Essential Functions :

Work Environment : Work is performed in a heated and ventilated setting. Noise level is medium when operating motorized kitchen equipment. Occasional daily exposure to walk-in cooler and freezer during production periods and food deliveries.
