P & M Steel Company is a custom steel fabricator with over 50 years in the Sioux Falls area seeking a Fabricator to join our team. The Fabricator position creates the structural steel products, such as beams and columns, for P & M Steel by operating machine shop equipment and welding under the supervision and direction of the Fabrication Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lays out, positions and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the fabrication supervisor.
• Accurately reports time tracking for project costs.
• Communicates progress status to fabrication supervisor for scheduling.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from fabrication supervisor.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Monday through Thursday, 10-hour day shift. Overtime as needed
