Applications Engineer

Basic Function :

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design, development and documentation of new connectivity products to meet internal and / or customer requirements. This role will serve as a critical link between customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure the successful development, customization, and delivery of products that meet market and customer needs.

Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge :

Excellent computer skills required with familiarity and skill in software packages such as Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office. Possess an excellent mechanical aptitude with a comprehensive knowledge of fiber optic cable and connector design and its application to production processes. Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable industry standards and qualification requirements including ISO 9001 and MIL-STD. Ability to plan, layout and execute complex projects, functions and operations. Excellent math and documentation skills required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely. Ability to supervise employees and maintain effective relationships with all levels in the organization. Ability to work in a team environment with responsibility for training, motivating, monitoring and evaluating others. Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately, and to recognize, record and help resolve problems. Able to organize, complete tasks and manage time.

Working Conditions : This is a sedentary position that requires vision sufficient for significant reading, keyboarding and computer usage. Also, normal work responsibilities call for nominal levels of physically demanding efforts characterized by walking and standing some of the day and lifting up to 25 lbs. This position also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for dealing with external agencies / vendors / customers, interacting with employees, conducting meetings, as well as for significant telephone contact.
