Job Summary
Closely supervised, mid-level position. Successful candidate will participate in the installation, administration, and troubleshooting of complex systems to include enterprise servers, infrastructure subsystems and other security related technologies surrounding Windows based environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the operation of centralized Microsoft Server Operating Systems related to
applications that revolve around the Campus-wide technology resources. This includes server installation and patch management.
Manage, upgrade and have a working knowledge of VMWare with the ability to create, delete, upgrade servers within the virtual environment. Other necessary skills include snapshots, CPU, memory, and disk management within the virtual environment.Work with third party application vendors for hardware sizing of new applications. Support current applications to include installation, upgrading, troubleshooting as needed.Recognize / mitigate phishing attacks through Microsoft Office 365 EOP, ATP Defender, CrowdStrike and other security platforms.Works with users to determine the most effective use of resources to meet ULM's needs. Recommend procedures to enhance use of computing resources and document system procedures.Assists the OIT staff and other committees in reviewing, evaluating and recommending the use of software and hardware products to augment or enhance the capabilities and performance of the systems.Performs other duties as required.Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must have detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Server / Desktop OS, VMware (or similar virtualization).Candidate must have detailed working knowledge of Microsoft active directory & policy management.Working knowledge of Unix server environments (ex : Solaris, Redhat, HP-UX, AIX, etc.) is important but not required.Proficient in shell scripting in bash, PowerShell and other programming languages.Full working knowledge of TCP / IP networks to include routing, subnets, etc.Working knowledge of Enterprise DNS and DHCP.
