Police Cadet Position

This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency. This position requires the applicant to successfully pass a drug screening.
The main function of this position is to attend the Indian River State College Police Academy as a Contractual Non-Sworn Police Cadet in a professional manner under the direction of, the Chief of Police or their designee. This position shall abide by all obligations as outlined in the Sponsorship Program Agreement and Employee Contract. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma required. Actively pursuing acceptance into a Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) Law Enforcement Academy. Possession of valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record required. Florida Law Enforcement Certification preferred and required to be obtained after graduation from Police Academy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action.
