Job Description

Job : Maintenance Trades Helper

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Approval Date : January 2022

SUPERVISES : There are no direct reports with this position.

POSITION SUMMARY : Maintenance Trades Helper provides support and assistance to building maintenance staff. The work type is highly variable, will be accomplished under direct supervision from a skilled maintenance technician, and will be limited to support functions only.

TYPICAL DUTIES :

• Assist building maintenance staff in procuring, obtaining, and preparing tools, equipment, and materials for specific planned maintenance tasks
• Schedule, coordinate, and escort subcontractor staff
• Assist with documentation, including sorting and filing of photographs, receipts, logs, checklists, and equipment lists
• Transport materials, documentation, tools and / or equipment between facilities
• Maintain equipment and material logs to ensure availability of required bench stock
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned
• Denotes Essential Job Function

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

0-1 year of work experience preferably in construction or maintenance;Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and respond to questions and requests from customers and peers;Human relations skills to build and maintain effective working relationships;Basic mathematical skills and ability to read and interpret units of measure;Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;Ability to track materials resources and time;Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and common-sense skills.

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED : The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and / or contract requirements :

Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance :

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Working is performed at a customer's location in an office / shop environment. Equipment may be located in confined spaces, rooftops, and outside areas. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and / or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat. Frequent travel to various worksites is required.
