Zeni is a new age, full service finance firm, built from the ground up using AI & ML, for startups and small businesses. Zenis AI and Finance Experts collaborate together to deliver 100% accurate accounting. We are based in Palo Alto, USA, Pune & Mohali in India. We are currently seeking a talented Tax Team Lead to join our Tax team. We work with growth stage technology startups; usually, Seed through Series C funded. As Tax Team Lead, you will help clients identify the best tax planning and strategy to support them in their growth stage. You will be responsible for income tax compliance to complete in a timely manner and mentoring the team.

Our ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of US Taxation, bookkeeping, accounting, auditing and budgeting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of R&D tax credit and file R&D taxes for clients.
• Review Federal and Multi-State Corporate tax returns including foreign reporting 5471 / 5472 / 8858 / FBARs, and R&D Tax credit reporting.
• Review W9's and filling of 1099 forms with IRS and states.
• Ability to solve IRS and State Tax notice requests and handle clients tax requests.
• Liaise with Tax Accountants to track tax payments and returns.
• Rigorously follow tax timelines to ensure timely filing and avoid penalties.
• Must be able to advice clients on tax requirements and need to timely file taxes.
• Deliver high-quality books efficiently for our customers (Specifically for US based clients)
• Preparing and filling corporation and partnership tax returns - Federal, State and City taxes.
• Working on Delaware franchise tax return / California franchise tax return.
• Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy.
• Manage the workflow and interaction with various teams to ensure the timely filing of tax returns and other deliverables.
• Analyse transactions and prepare reports.
• Oversee ledger reconciliation and manage accounts payable / receivable.
• Delight customers with expert guidance and support.
• Work with engineering to define and evolve our bookkeeping processes.
• Stay informed on industry developments and changes in regulations.
