Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry in the College of Community Health Sciences at the University of Alabama (UA) is excited to announce the availability of an assistant or associate professor faculty position for a fulltime, non-tenure earning, clinical track BC/BE Psychiatrist to meet its growing needs. Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship activities.
Detailed Position Information
Faculty are responsible for teaching medical students and residents in clinical training, engaging in scholarly activity, providing direct patient care, and administrative tasks typical for a faculty appointment. In addition, our Family Medicine Residency Program, Psychiatry Residency Program and medical education programs are in continual growth and development. This growth generates multiple opportunities for moving into leadership roles depending on the experience and interest of the individual.
Minimum Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. and Board eligible/Board Certified in Psychiatric Medicine required. Candidates must meet Alabama medical licensure requirements and complete licensure within the state prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
A track record of scholarship, focusing on learning and teaching in a health professions or medical school environment would be desirable. Successful candidates will display a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to work in multidisciplinary and inter-professional teams and have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
