Job Description :

  • The ASL Interpreter and Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing precise and confidential ASL interpretation services to ensure accessibility and inclusion for a designated team member who is Deaf.
  • This role also includes providing administrative support to executives, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and handling confidential communication.
  • ASL interpretation responsibilities will always take precedence over administrative duties.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide accurate and confidential ASL interpretation during meetings, presentations, and informal communications.
  • Act as the main facilitator of communication for a team member who is Deaf in all professional settings.
  • Prepare for assignments by researching and understanding sector or technical vocabularies needed for interpretation sessions.
  • Organize and maintain calendar schedules for two VPs.
  • Arrange meeting logistics, including coordination of spaces and preparation of required materials.
  • Handle confidential documents and communications with discretion.
  • Act as a point of contact among executives, staff, and external stakeholders.

    • Requirement / Must Have :

  • Certification in XX Sign Language interpretation from a recognized body such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or equivalent.
  • Adherence to the interpreter’s code of conduct and professional ethics.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all interpreted information.
  • Commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Adaptability in working with diverse populations using various interpreting models both onsite and remotely.
  • Proven background in managing executive schedules or performing in similar administrative roles.
  • Familiarity with project, program, or management processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    • Should Have :

  • Two years of consecutive professional experience as a Sign Language Interpreter.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, or related field.

    • Skills :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
  • Flexible and adaptable team player.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of complex tasks for multiple stakeholders while maintaining composure.
