Special Education Teacher Assistant CORE

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated understanding of student needs ability and desire to work with special needs students.
• Assist student(s) with personal needs including but not limited to hygiene diapering toileting and clothing.
• Ability to assist student(s) with multiple challenges in the classroom / school environment.
• Ability to follow through with prescribed behavioral management or instructional programs.
• Ability to maintain composure and communication during stressful situations.
• May need good physical flexibility such as ability to run walk lift and / or respond to student physical needs.
• Willingness to be trained in area(s) of student health related awareness and intervention.
• Willingness to accept assignment at multiple and potentially differing sites and locations depending on individual student needs as determined by the District.
• Willingness to be assigned as general help during down-periods.
• Maintain various records and file parent contact may be required.
• Characteristics sought include : Child-centered adaptability calm demeanor respect for dignity patience confidentiality and ability to alertly focus during times of potential distraction.
• Good attendance required.
• Wheelchair assistance may be required.
