Substitute Musician

Description:

St Mary Magdalene is looking for multiple substitute musicians to work part-time, as needed filling in for our regular musicians during Saturday and Sunday masses. This is a non-benefited position. We are seeking both substitute accompanists and cantors.

Requirements:

• Cantor candidates should be able to sight read music at a professional level, articulate sacred text well, and maintain proper vocal technique.
• Accompanist candidates must be able to accompany the cantor during rehearsals and masses, read sight music and have experience accompanying choirs, cantors and congregational singing.
• Knowledge of the Catholic Mass and its liturgical structure.
• Must refrain from promotion of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays/Holy Days, as needed (i.e., Christmas and Easter).

Physical Requirements:

• Visual acuity, good hearing and speech.
• Standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and squatting is required as necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Substitute musicians are paid $75.00 per mass. This position will be posted until February 28, 2026.
