Job Description

The Registered Nurse is accountable for providing comprehensive obstetrical care during the antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases to Labor and Delivery patients. Utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, the RN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership to anticipate and plan for safe delivery of care. The RN will maintain clinical competencies through continuing education, delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of available staff, and provide direction and supervision of assigned personnel in delivering patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients during various phases of obstetrical care.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to ensure safe delivery of care.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and planning skills.
  • Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education.
  • Delegate and supervise patient care among nursing staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Active RN license in the state.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (ARC or AHA accepted).
  • NRP certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
  • Fetal Monitoring certification preferred (must obtain within 6 months).
