We are looking for a dedicated Major Gifts Officer to join our nonprofit think tank based in Washington, District of Columbia. In this newly established role, you will play a pivotal part in advancing the organization's mission by cultivating relationships with major donors and securing significant contributions. Responsibilities:
• Build and nurture relationships with major donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations, to secure significant contributions.
• Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans aimed at targeting high-value donors.
• Organize and oversee events and activities designed to attract and engage individual and corporate sponsors.
• Maintain donor records, including tracking important dates such as birthdays, and arranging personalized gifts or messages.
• Create compelling presentations and proposals to inspire existing and prospective donors.
• Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Donor Development to execute fundraising initiatives and meet organizational goals.
• Conduct research to identify potential donors and develop tailored strategies for outreach.
• Monitor and analyze fundraising performance metrics to improve efforts and ensure success.
• Serve as a visible representative of the organization in donor-facing activities and networking opportunities.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in donor development, fundraising, or related roles within the nonprofit or political sectors.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messages.
• Proven ability to manage donor relationships effectively and secure major gifts of $30,000 or more.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, particularly in coordinating events and tracking donor information.
• Stable and consistent work history demonstrating commitment and reliability.
• Experience working with high-profile donors or Capitol Hill connections is highly desirable.
