Tool Maker Rockford MI

Salary Range : $60000 - $92000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Rockford region seeking Tool Makers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidatesnot just resumes. By joining our network you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design build and repair precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
  • Operate and program various machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDM machines.
  • Interpret complex engineering blueprints CAD models and technical specifications.
  • Perform meticulous measurements and inspections using precision instruments to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot tooling malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool performance and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in operating and setting up conventional machine tools (lathes mills grinders) and CNC equipment.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and use precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong understanding of metal properties tooling principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to diagnose troubleshoot repair and maintain precision tooling and dies.

    • Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency with advanced CAD / CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam).
  • Experience operating and programming EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Certification or proven experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
