Director Of Construction
Located in the state capital, the University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system. The University serves more than 4,000 students in 44 graduate and 56 undergraduate programs.
The Director of Construction is a full-time academic professional responsible for managing construction projects from initial planning and design through bidding, construction, and warranty phases. This role also involves setting and evaluating campus and University standards for project planning, design, and delivery methods. This role also leads real property condition assessments, utilization, and function.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in architecture or mechanical / electrical engineering. Experience in facilities planning. 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the construction of buildings and construction project management. General mobility enabling individual to inspect construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications : Professional Engineers or Architects license. History of managing numerous projects simultaneously with success. Supervisory experience in the construction / facilities field. Proven track record of successful problem and claim resolution throughout a project.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Thorough knowledge of estimating process. Good organizational skills. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong business decision making skills. Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Ability to delegate and supervise the work of supporting staff. Working knowledge of computer-aided design and facilities management systems software.
