Human Resources Benefits Representative

The Human Resources Benefits Representative is responsible for administering the university's benefits programs, including acting as a liaison between employees and benefits providers. This role involves managing benefits enrollment, maintaining benefits records, and ensuring compliance with benefits regulations.

Responsibilities

Assists employees within assigned colleges with benefits enrollment and life event changes. Acts as the first point of contact for employees, providing general benefit information. Maintains accurate and up-to-date benefits records in the HRIS. Responds to employee inquiries about benefits programs and policies. Processes benefits-related transactions, including but not limited to new hire enrollments, qualifying event changes, employee terminations, FMLA leave, short term disability claims, long-term disability claims, and life insurance claims. Assists with the coordination of benefit orientations and attends information sessions. Provides metrics and reports on benefits activity to HR leadership. Identifies and recommends opportunities to improve benefit program management, processes, and employee experience. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local benefits regulations. Performs other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

• Benefits Representative I - One year of experience in customer service is required; human resources experience is preferred. An associate degree or business administration certificate may substituted for experience.
• Benefits Representative II - Three years of experience in human resources; or an associate degree / business administration certificate plus one year of experience in human resources is required.
