Summary
A top-ranked specialty contractor is seeking a Process Piping Estimator in Chandler, AZ . This role is responsible for preparing and coordinating precise and profitable estimates for Process Piping / Mechanical projects, while maintaining strong relationships with General Contractors’ Estimating Departments. Experience in industrial or commercial construction, particularly in biopharmaceutical or semiconductor sectors, is highly desirable.
Duties & Responsibilities
Business Development & Opportunity Assessment
- Connect with Pre-Construction Departments of targeted General Contractors to identify potential projects.
- Evaluate project opportunities to ensure alignment with company goals, competitive advantages, and profitability targets.
Estimating & Project Preparation
Review drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and contracts to identify any impacts on scope or cost.Utilize estimating software and computer-based takeoff systems to create accurate and consistent estimates.Coordinate drawings, scopes, and points of contact with other trades.Prepare RFIs, request vendor and subcontractor pricing, and develop project recaps, schedules, and letters.Produce reports to support bid review meetings with the Estimating Manager.Project Support & Tracking
Assist in selling projects through scope development, presentations, and negotiations.Participate in project kickoff meetings, presenting scope, work plans, budgets, and any limitations.Track labor productivity units and monitor project performance against estimates.Attend daily staff meetings to discuss scope changes, production updates, and implement corrective plans as needed.Qualifications & Requirements
Required
3+ years estimating industrial or commercial construction projects involving high-purity process piping.Proficiency with estimating software such as FastPIPE / FastDUCT, Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, or QuickPen.Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.Preferred
Experience with semiconductor and / or biopharmaceutical construction.Field, craft, or piping trade experience, or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.Familiarity with related piping systems including plumbing and HVAC.Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk.Capacity to lift items up to 15 pounds occasionally.Adequate vision to read printed and digital materials.Ability to climb ladders and access trenches, attics, or confined spaces.Hearing sufficient to communicate in noisy environments; ability to recognize alarms and instructions.Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.Dexterity to handle small objects and tools.Benefits
