The Clinical Specialist, Pharmacist provides comprehensive medication management services that integrate clinical services, order management, patient / staff education and research. Clinical Specialists are responsible for improving the patient's experience, safety, and achieving positive clinical and financial outcomes. This position is responsible to an immediate supervisor / manager.

Major Responsibilities :

The Clinical Specialist, Pharmacist meets all the major responsibilities job requirements of the Clinical Pharmacist plus the following major responsibilities :

• Maintains an active practice in a specialized or focused area.
• Continuous contribution to new clinical service or project that directly impacts patient outcomes / safety, cost containment or process improvement.
• Actively participates and / or leads hospital based interdisciplinary committee(s) and / or taskforces in a specialized or focused practice area.
• Develops and maintains clinical practice guidelines, interdisciplinary policies and standard operating procedures.
• Supports resident or other research projects and / or quality improvement initiatives and engages in opportunities for publication.
• Involved in presentations at a local or national level.
• Serves as primary preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
