Summary : Responsible for assisting the Senior Escort and Housing Programs and performing other office duties for the department.
Essential Functions :
- Answers incoming phone calls for the Social Services Department as the Receptionist.
- Provides intake, assessment, scheduling and referral to seniors age 60 or over for Senior Escort Services.
- Assists the Program Supervisor in scheduling senior escort appointments, making arrangements and confirming with clients, Senior Escort Service Workers and Senior Escort Drivers.
- Receives training as a Senior Escort Service Worker and provides escort services when needed.
- Performs administrative work such as filing, data entry, invoices, and answering the main line or related paperwork for the Social Services Department.
- Assists the Social Services Department in conducting outreach in the community to promote Social Services' programs.
- Maintains complete consumer files and completes all required data collection forms and reports.
- Identifies and monitors trends : recruits volunteers and sites based on community and volunteer needs. Distributes Social Services outreach materials to community or volunteer sites; identifies needs for additional outreach materials (which may include brochures, informational
- pamphlets, press releases, announcements, flyers, posters and signs) and assists with their development in appropriate languages.
- Prepares reports as required by funding sources.
- Performs primary recruiting, screening, and training responsibilities for new volunteers. Schedules volunteer in-service training.
- Substitutes for volunteers when necessary.
- Assists with housing applications, recertification, lottery checks and follow-up on housing application status, housing subsidy applications, eligibility assessments and recertification to eligible clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
A high school graduate with relevant housing experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience in providing health, social or aging services in the community.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.Must be self-motivated, organized and able to multitask under minimal supervision.Proficient in MS Office and the Internet.Must be bilingual in English and Cantonese. Biliteracy in English and Chinese is a plus.Must be able to travel via public transportation or personal vehicle for the performance of job duties.
