[job_card.job_description]J.D. degree from an accredited law school Active license to practice law in Michigan Minimum of 3–5 years of experience (or more) in estate planning, probate / trusts. guardianships / conservatorships (Medicaid planning is a PLUS!) We are seeking a motivated, client-focused Elder Law Attorney to join our team and contribute to our continued growth and commitment to excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
As an Elder Law Attorney with our firm, your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) :
- Advise clients (and family members or fiduciaries) on estate planning tools (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives)
- Design and implement Medicaid planning strategies (e.g. asset protection, eligibility planning)
- Handle guardianship, conservatorship, and related proceedings
- Manage probate and trust administration matters
- Conduct legal research, stay current on state and federal elder law, Medicaid, taxation, and related statutes / regulations
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents, contracts, court filings, and correspondence
- Represent clients in court and / or administrative hearings (e.g. guardianship, contested matters)
- Counsel clients through difficult decisions, often in emotionally charged circumstances
- Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide excellent client focused services
- Participate in business development : give presentations, lead seminars / webinars, produce client education content
- Maintain client relationships, manage case files timely, billable hours, and client communications
- Ensure compliance with ethical rules and legal standards
