Senior Accountant

Description

The Senior Accountant will support construction project financials and overall accounting operations. This role requires hands-on experience with job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, SG&A allocation, and multi-entity accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and works closely with project management and operations while supporting sales/use tax compliance and accounting system optimization.

Salary: $80-95k + bonus & 401K match of 3-4%. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities

Construction & Project Accounting

• Manage job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and cost forecasting
• Review contracts, billings, change orders, retainage, and project profitability
• Partner with project teams on budgets, margins, and cost control

Multi-Entity & Tax Compliance

• Support accounting across multiple related entities and SG&A allocations
• Track intercompany transactions and consolidated reporting
• Manage sales/use tax compliance, filings, and audit support

Close, Reporting & Systems

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reports
• Assist with monthly/annual close and GAAP compliance
• Support Sage Intacct optimization, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration
• Mentor junior staff and enhance accounting efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Job Requirements Required Skills / Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or job-cost accounting
• Strong knowledge of WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
• Experience working in a multi-entity construction environment
• Strong understanding of SG&A allocation and intercompany accounting
• Working knowledge of construction-related sales and use tax
• Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and support accounting process improvements

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Experience using Sage Intacct, particularly in a construction environment
• Participation in an ERP implementation or system conversion
• Experience with Procore and construction financial workflows
• Background supporting self-perform construction operations
• Experience in organizations with internal service divisions (equipment, trucking, site services)
