Our client, a high-growth consumer products company, is looking to bring on in house Legal Counsel. This individual will serve as the primary legal resource for intellectual property protection, enforcement, and a broad range of commercial matters.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this attorney will play a critical role in safeguarding the company’s intellectual property across U.S. and international markets, managing outside counsel, and supporting ongoing commercial expansion. The successful candidate will excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting and be motivated to build and lead an IP enforcement function from inception.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to executive leadership on a wide range of matters including corporate governance, contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and risk management
- Partner with executive leadership in managing a global network of external law firms
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality commercial agreements, including licensing, distribution, and supply contracts
- Provide guidance on corporate governance and ensure proper maintenance of corporate records and filings
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams on day-to-day legal matters, escalating to outside counsel when appropriate
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IP enforcement strategy across domestic and international markets, including trademark, patent, and unfair competition matters
- Manage enforcement matters end-to-end, including cease and desist correspondence, demand letters, litigation coordination, settlement negotiations, and potential conversion of infringers into commercial partners
- Oversee relationships with outside litigation counsel, including strategy, case management, and budget oversight
- Identify and prioritize enforcement opportunities based on business impact and legal risk
- Lead IP enforcement efforts across e-commerce and digital platforms
- Advise senior leadership on intellectual property risks related to business decisions, partnerships, and enforcement strategies
- Coordinate with U.S. and international counsel on patent portfolio management, licensing, and regulatory exclusivity strategies
- Monitor the competitive landscape and proactively identify potential IP risks and response strategies
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing (California preferred)
- 7–10 years of legal experience with a strong focus on intellectual property enforcement and/or IP litigation
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage IP enforcement matters, including trademark, false advertising, and unfair competition claims
- Experience with federal court litigation and managing cases through resolution
- Proven track record of managing outside counsel, including oversight of legal strategy and budgets
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a range of commercial agreements
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Compensation: Base $300k plus performance-based bonuses.
